The Bridge is Headed to Camp

July 27th - 31st, our students will be headed to our very own Bridge Camp in Illinois! This is such an incredible opportunity for our soon-to-be 6th graders through current seniors in high school.

Frequently Asked Questions

Camp is an awesome week of worship, teaching, friendship, and fun! Students will experience powerful worship, biblical messages, small groups, squad wars, games, and lake time on massive inflatables!

The cost is $350 and all money is due July 13th.

The cost includes travel to camp, lodging, meals at camp, a camp t-shirt, and all of our activities.

YES! We never want money to be the reason a student can’t attend camp. Our ministry will be offering multiple fundraisers throughout the spring that any student can participate in. Details about those fundraisers will be shared soon. If you’d like more information now, please email Natalie Lux at nlux@discoverchurchkc.com.

In the meantime, we also encourage students to start raising money on their own through things like:

  • Babysitting, yard work, or other small jobs
  • Saving allowance or part-time income
  • Reaching out to family and friends for support

We will be providing a more detailed packing list to the students as well as a parent email as we get closer to camp. For right now, here are some things to be aware of that they will need aside from the packing list:

  • Cash for one lunch on the trip down and the trip back
  • Any dry snack items for the bus and during the week
  • Water bottle
  • Games to play during free time

Medication:

  1. OTC medicine is okay to bring. Please let me know if you do not allow me to give your student Tylenol or Ibuprofen if they ask for it at camp.
  2. Prescription Meds are also okay to bring, but they will need to stay with their small group leader this week so other students do not mess with them.

For simplicity’s sake, our clothing policy is “no belly buttons” and no “short-short” shorts.

Cell phones are allowed, but at certain times. It is our general posture (for students and leaders) to discourage cell phones and encourage building relationships. With that, there are three “zones” for phone usage.

  1. Green: Phones are fully allowed on the bus when students go to sleep, wake up, and during free time in the afternoon.
  2. Yellow: Phones are permitted to be with the student if they want, but are strongly discouraged from being on them during meals
  3. Red: Phones are not allowed during big or small group time, and during group activities.

Please arrive in front of the church office (8400 NW 107th Terrace, Kansas City, MO. 64153) on Monday, July 27th at 7AM. The bus will depart at 8AM.

We should arrive back in Kansas City (Lord willing) late afternoon on Friday, July 31st. We will contact parents on our way back with a more accurate time as well as have students contact their parents.
