DISCOVER CHURCH CHRISTMAS 2020 GIVING INITIATIVE
We are so excited to announce our partnership with Compassion International to build a Compassion Center in Buenaventura, Colombia!
br>
One of the initiatives for Discover Church in 2020 was to engage our hearts in missions. Our first step in this journey to partner with Compassion was in January when our church sponsored 82 kids from Buenaventura, Colombia. Our next step is to fund the building of a Compassion Center. The total cost to build a center is $78,000. All year long, we've been setting aside 3% of everything that has come in as tithes/offerings in order to take this faith step. Without any fanfare, we have already set aside $40,000 toward this project.
br>
THE GOAL: To raise an additional $38,000 to fully fund this project.
br>
This project will build a Christ-based community center to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational needs of children in Colombia. By funding this center, we will join the effort to release children in Colombia from poverty in Jesus' name for generations to come!
WE'RE ALREADY HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL
Thanks to your generosity this year, we've already raised $40,000.

WHAT IS A COMPASSION CENTER?
Compassion Centers are church-funded, local church-run locations whose mission is to release children from poverty in Jesus' name.
br>
Children in poverty in Colombia are often food insecure, but that worry goes away with a Compassion Center. Each Center's staff ensures children are fed and nourished.
br>
They have toys, games, and playgrounds for children to have safe places to play. There are tutors to offer homework and school help, and many have built libraries and computer labs for children to use after school.
br>
As the children get older, there are vocational classes that cover topics like auto repair, baking, and others to keep teenagers engaged and prepared for the future.
br>
The bottom line is that each center provides a safe space for children to grow, learn, and develop.
